MY EXPERIENCES WITH PRATHAM .....

In 2007-08 Pratham an NGO with the help of Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) & Directorate of Elementary Education Himachal Pradesh (DEEHP) run a learning excellence program in all 10613 Govt. Primary Schools of Himachal. Nearly 2500 Govt teachers in Shimla DIstt alone had trained under AADHAR

The task was to build a strong base among school going children in learning language (reading, writing, comprehension ) and in arithmetic (number recognition, Addition, Subtraction, multiplication & division) aligned with the learning of other subject matters.

Problem Definition in Himachal
According to annual status of Education Report 2006 (ASER)
We had about 35% children in5th class who couldn’t read std 2 text
About 48% in class 5th were unable to do simple divide sums.

In order to improve the quality of learning reflected in the performance of children PRATHAM an NGO as part of its national lavel read India campaign, offers its support to collectively create with Himachal Pradesh Government, the framework to achieve the following objectives by implementing the AADHAR Program

  • To help Himachal Pradesh to achieve higher quality in elementary education.
  • To help build quality improvement processes in elementary education.

POLE stands for Pocket of Learning Excellence
The Pole % should not be less than 80%
No nothing level student would be accepted

These days we are verifying the schools which are according to Post test came in POLE category. POLE stands for Pocket of Learning Excellence. Pole Schools are those Govt. schools which have fulfilled the Goals of AADHAR. The work is very hectic and we are facing many problems. like the lack of time also the geographical conditions are not much suitable. We go on foot to most of the schools
In my catchments area in three Education Blocks the no of Pole schools are:
In Education Block ANNI we have 62 POLE schools,
in NIRMOND block we have 38 POLE schools
followed by Education block Sarahan with 25 Pole schools

All agree that the single most important key to development and poverty alleviation is education. This must start with universal primary education for girls and boys equally with street children.People in communities should be mobilized & prepared to not only take this as a 'right' but an initiative. PRATHAM an NGO working for Universalisation of Primary Education. Pratham has launched the Read India campaign. India is still struggling to solve problems of yesterday, such as basic literacy, while simultaneously facing new challenges of tomorrow.DONT BLAME ON OTHERS LIKE GOVERMENT policy...THINK WHAT U CAN DO ON UR PART to surve ur country. take an initiative and play the part of a change agent. -choose ur local area.-find children who are not enrolled in school -teach them. change their lives. FOOTPRINTS

footprints.............................

One night a man dreamed he was walking down the beach with the lord. Across the sky Flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints-one belonging to him and other to the lord. When the last scene was flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints on the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life, especially at the lowest and saddest times, there was only one set of footprints. Upset he turned to god, “Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you’d walk with me all the way. But I’ve noticed that during the most trouble times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. When I needed you most, you would leave me! ’’ The Lord replied,’’ my son, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trials and sufferings, when you have seen only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you!”

If every step is taken in the remembrance of god, just imagine how much fortune there is in every moment.

School Days ...MEMORIES

My friendship Diaries......

"Gone are the days"
Gone are the days
When the school reopened in June,
And we settled in our new desks and benches.

Gone are the days
When we wanted two Sundays and no Mondays,
yet Managed to line up daily for the morning prayers.

Gone are the days
We learnt writing with slates and pencils,
and progressedTo fountain pens and ball pens and then micro tips.

Gone are the days
When all the colours in the world,
Decorated the campus on the Second Saturdays.

Gone are the days
Of the stressful Quarterly, Half Yearly and Annual Exams,
And the most enjoyed holidays after them.

Gone are the days
With so much fun in them,
so many friends,So much experience, all this and more.

Gone are the days
But not the memories,
which will be Lingering in our hearts for ever and ever andEver and ever and Ever
"when I look outside my window n see d good school days memories flash by, I get a smile with a tear in my eyes thinking i wish i could go back to my past"
THANX TO ALL MY SCHOOL FRIENDS FOR CREATING SUCH MEMORIES

For MY Friends.........

My Friendship Diaries.....

We met, we part,
On the road of life,
Where everybody gets aside,
We are together though we are miles apart.

We dream, we share,
On the shore of life,
Where usually everybody leaves,
You stayed with all your love and care.

We broke up, we made up,
On the curves of life,
Where no one bothers to hold on,
You anchored and never let me drowned.

We fought, we stopped talking,
Halfway through the life,
Where no one tries to burn up the strife,
You silently lent your shoulder & kept walking,

We cried, we tried,
Throughout the journey of life,
From where no one comes out alive,
Our friendship survived.

We ate, we played together,
During the tough times,
Where every one looks after themselves,
You proved once again that we are FRIENDS FOREVER

TOUCH ME.........in the SOUL

My Friendship Diaries........
There was a perfect love story. It was sacred. But one day that sanctity broke, his touch seemed to her a sin. No, it wasn’t his love that seemed carnal but she had her own limits. But he said, love knows no limits. But to her it was associated with an institution, certainly not a license, but something sacred, to be shared with special one in life.”

For most girls, love still is about good old virtues of faith, understanding and companionship. Physicality comes much later, preferably after the seven vows of marriage have been taken care of.

Quite often when the years are young, love stands stuck in the thinking of ‘where is the line……………’

Physical relationship certainly doesn’t make a relationship strong, but if both r sharing a mature thought, it can take it forward. If a couple is fine with it, they can go ahead while taking precautions. But only if their mature thoughts have well cemented the relationship.
But that mature thought is absent in today’s youth. Their relationships are so fragile that they fall apart easily at the slighter rough weather. The youth are totally confused about relationship.
Girls go for physical relationships to get love, while boys use love to get physical relations. Most of the time girls feel cheated.
Who is the accused? Definitely not only males. Girls too are going the boys way.
A couple eager to sleep together the very first time can not be good partners. Physicality is the sacred issue & knowing each other is more important. Instead of physical intimacy, respect & concern for each other makes relationship stronger & long lasting. A relationship survives only on the basis of love. Physical relationship dies as the relationship gets older. Honest concerns for each other strengthen a relationship. What survives it all are those softer moments of joy, intimacy & belongingness

I obay n shake hand with her like a true fellow. From last two years I m wandering. I want to rest now with someone, someone with whom I sit in front of a bonfire with interlocking fingers. Someone ring the bellThe child wants to smile.………let them fly on their own

Most of the students don’t feel good in schools. Coz the burden they carry on their shoulders is underestimated by the teachers and parents. One question for them that why they expect so much from their children. Is education means learning or leaving behind every one in the class? The tension that child carries is same for junior to senior level. One thing have found common in the suicide notes of the children that "sorry mom n dad, I couldn’t be able to reach your expectations"For the children this is a critical condition that they fear to go to the school due to teachers and fear with the parents when they come back because they didn’t come first at the class. What type of environment we are creating for the children where they don’t feel secure at all. A child is spending his precious time of childhood in tuitions, class work and home work. Learning has become a source of burden and stress on children.
The child can get education with playing and with a smile on their faces. At one end in govt. schools the students feel easy compared to the convents. The reason behind is definitely not that the education standards are set high but the teachers don’t take much interests in teaching them. The govt. should understand one thing that no system of education can rise above the quality of the teachers and the quality of the teachers greatly depends upon the means deployed for selection procedures and the training standards and the most important the strategies adopted for ensuring accountability.Even as the body like Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan & the reputed NGOs like Pratham attempt to reach every child, the issue of quality presents a new range of challenges. On the other end in convents the burden is simply tremendous on children.

Importance of the task of educating the country’s children, it is necessary that, from time to time, we create occasions to collectively sit back and ask ourselves, “What is it that we are doing in our engagement with the task. Is it time for us to refresh what we provide to our children in the name of education.Learning without burden at school cannot become a joyful experience unless we change our perception of the child as a receiver of knowledge & more beyond the convention of using textbooks at basis of examinations

System should be changed.
